About the category Infield Gloves
Infield gloves for baseball and softball help players handle ground balls, receive throws and move the ball into the throwing hand. For second base, shortstop and third base, the right choice starts with a glove you can control comfortably.
Choose a pattern for your position
Infield patterns generally favour a more accessible pocket than outfield gloves. Middle infielders often prefer a compact feel for transfers, while third basemen may want more reach. Compare the complete pattern rather than choosing by the inch measurement alone: pocket shape, finger stalls and wrist fit all affect how a glove feels.
What to check before buying
- Sport: choose a pocket designed for the ball you use. A baseball pattern and a softball pattern are not automatically interchangeable.
- Throwing hand: RHT means right-hand throw and is worn on the left hand; LHT means left-hand throw and is worn on the right.
- Hand fit: the glove should stay secure without requiring you to grip it constantly. Younger players need a model they can close.
- Materials and break-in: compare the manufacturer's description of stiffness and preparation, especially if you need the glove for an upcoming game.
Build a setup that suits your fielding
Try your usual catching and transfer movements when assessing fit. Follow the manufacturer's care instructions and use suitable glove accessories for maintenance. Playing first base? Compare dedicated first base mitts before deciding.
